We went to a U-Pick place on Friday with my mom, her friend and one of my friends. It was very nice and the blueberries were huge, although a little expensive. I think we still got a great deal on them compared to market prices. I loved the fact that my kids jumped right in and helped pick berries. I was really expecting them to stop quickly and say they were hot or tired, but they didn't!
We got 2 gallons of them. This afternoon I made 6 jars of blueberry pie filling. I don't think it set up right, it's kind of watery looking, so I am going to be looking for a better recipe.
Then, I froze 2 cookie sheets using the flash freeze method. I washed them and pulled out any debris and mushy berries. Then I let them dry for a bit on some paper towel. I placed a sheet of wax paper on each cookie sheet then spread the berries out on the cookie trays. After they were frozen in 2 to 3 hours, I put them in quart freezer bags for later us in pancakes and muffins.
I did make some blueberry muffins this morning. I think they were good because everyone got seconds :) The only problem I had is even though I greased the pan, even though on top and all around, the tops of the muffins were stuck to the pan and they didn't end up very pretty. If anyone has a way to solve that problem, please let me know!

Those look so good. We don't have the right type of soil to grow blueberries, so we don't have them.
